To me, teamwork is a lot like being part of a family. It comes with obligations, entanglements, headaches, and quarrels. But the rewards are worth the cost.

Our Vision

Engage, guide, & provide quality sport-based positive youth development programs for socio-economically challenged and marginalized youth. Developing and preparing youth for life and leadership via sports. We plan to pursue financial assistance and support via donors and fundraisers.

Our Impact

Seeing the impact, we have on people as well as just being given an opportunity what it has done for us. We believe everyone just need that one opportunity that can possibly change their life. When it comes to children that opportunity can help with self esteem, communication, leadership, confidence, and so much more. We would love for KOPPS to be the light to many children and family’s future.

KOPPS does not think the kids should be categorized if they get an opportunity because of their circumstance. Every child should be afforded an opportunity regardless of race or social class (poor, middle class, rich).

What separates KOPPS

Family

We want to create a family environment we want this to be the best experience for all of the children.

Sportsmanship

Everyone is to be treated with respect and dignity. We want parents to enjoy their child with out arguing.  Support teammates by saying "good shot" or "good try." Never criticize a teammate for trying. Accept calls and do not argue with officials. Treat the other team with respect and never tease or bully. Follow the rules of the game.

Availability

Besides other programs we don’t focus on how much you make in order to give children the opportunity and not have to travel 30 plus miles in order to play a sport.

Skills KOPPS will provide

Communication Skills

Communication skills are key in maintaining a functioning sports team, whether it’s listening to locker room pep talk, picking up on nonverbal cues given by other players, or expressing a thought during a post-game debrief.

Decisive Action

Sports plays happen fast, and athletes develop the skills needed to make effective snap decisions. Whether it’s a basketball player deciding to shoot or a soccer player realizing his best move is to pass to a teammate for the assist, athletes learn critical decision-making skills that will benefit them both during and after game time.

Teamwork

Teamwork is all about collaborating with others to reach a common goal. The diverse pairing of personalities and scenarios will help your athlete become adaptable, persistent, and patient. Team sports also teach a sense of group and individual responsibility.

Build Self-Esteem and a sense of Community

Team sports are said to bolster the five C’s: Competence, Confidence, Connections, Character, and Caring. At the heart of this is self-esteem –anincreased sense of self as a result of better social interactions, stronger relationships, and higher academic performance.

Sports Programs

Flag football

Our program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action. Also, learning lessons in teamwork and developing good sportsmanship. Players develop skills that will help them succeed on and off the field. Our flag football teaches the basic skills of football running, passing, receiving, and defending. Games involve non-contact rules that eliminate all forms of blocking and tackling. The program is played on a 50-yard playing field where participants may run or pass the ball. Teams start at their 5-yard line and have three downs to move the ball past midfield. Once a team has crossed midfield, they receive a new set of three downs to score.

Age Groups

(Ages 5-6)

In our sports leagues for kids in the Freshman age group, we offer programming designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport as well as teamwork. Yet, fun is still our number on priority! Your child will learn that winning and losing are part of the game, but it’s how you win or lose that sets you apart from others.

(ages 7-8/ 9-10/ 11-12/ 13-14)

Sports are a valuable tool for teaching young people the skills necessary to succeed in life. Values like teamwork, leadership, humility and respect are important on the field and off. Our sports leagues for kids the Junior amd Senior age group teach these important lessons while also developing their skills and growing as an athlete. Of course, making sure they are having fun is our top priority!
